~Victorian Society~
Hello and welcome to The Victorian Society. This is unlike any RP forum you have ever joined, this is more then an RP dreamt up from the mind of a creator but a whole world you are about to immerse yourself into. A world where human rules no longer apply, a world unlike any you shall ever face in the world of books and RPs. To survive and understand this world you must enter with a new view, a backwards view. To survive The Victorian Society you must join us here...in the After Life.
This as you may have figured out already is not your average RP forum, it is also a place for sharing my story and greatest pride Afterlife, a book that shall hopefully be published in the near future so yes you are the privileged few to get a sneak peek for free of the book that is still on the work bench. However I shall do more then give you a free sneak peek to my book on this site, I have invited you into the world within this book to allow you to live my world and live alongside my creations. It can be a frightful world, a confusing world, a world that you may wish to run from or stay forever but you must know this in the end despite everything else. It is only as confusing as you let it be.
So what is The Victorian Society?
The Victorian Society is hopefully this group of people here who will come to know the world of the After Life and love all it has to offer. A dark Victorian world of the 1800's The Victorian Society is you and those who join, those who play here and take in the world I have created for them. The fans of my work and this site, and more importantly those who are inspired by it. The moment you create your account is the moment even you become a member of The Victorian Society.
What about this book?
Mind you this is not a place to whore off my beloved book nor my lovely characters. It is a place for you to play within the world I have created, for me to share it with you. If you so chose to get into my book and read it so be it, if you chose not to then so be it. Will I recommend you read it, not really, I could care less. What would you get out of the book in relations to this RP, you'll probably understand this RP world much better and see where it goes, how the species I have designed act and interact with other beings and how the social structures work. That and if you like horror books, fantasy, Victorian atmospheres, and epic wars then you might find it interesting. Still when you cut to the chase that shall not be the focal point of this site, it shall only be a side note and a resource for those who wish to use it. In fact I have gone as far as to not allow anyone to speak of it outside of the proper forum in the General section at the bottom of the page. All Afterlife related discussions shall be left there and not brought about to muck up the rest of the site.
Fan work however is allowed but only to be kept on this site, if you do wish to get into the book and start getting an itchy finger to draw or write about this world you may do so, in fact you may even set it in any time and add to the world of Afterlife if you wish. There are so many things I do not tell about the grand past of Afterlife, you could perhaps think up your own theories to how it all started and share them with the rest of us, even I would be interested to know what your theories are. After all I do wish to make Afterlife an almost living and breathing world filled with interesting stories and history.
Where is the timeline of this RP in relations to the book?
This RP happens to take place in 1880 to where the actually book is happening in modern times yet it does indeed dive into the past and the past mostly happens in this era. This RP is basically before Tristan and the rest of the book happens, this is the prelude into the book and because of that the world all of you as members create here is the world that was before the book takes place. Because Afterlife is such a large world much like our own a million things related to it happen all over the world and all through time. A million possibilities of what happened before my book comes along. In Afterlife I only give you a small window of what was happening in London around the time leaving it wide open for a whole real world that was taking place then.
Through that I hope that you feel free to create this world together with the Afterlife feel but not be restrained by a set plot, only a lose one which you can move freely in. The hero's and villains from the book will not be here on this RP but they shall all be you and your characters. I feel having this before the book happens gives you more freedom to decide who the world of Afterlife was shaped by the time Tristan and Damona come around.
Will we ever have guest characters from the book show up?
Certainly there will be guest appearances for those who were around in these times. I will usually announce when a guest shall arrive and it will only be to move a plot or the site wide plot forward or to help at times. Maybe even just passing through on their daily life. I shall play all the guest appearances and maybe even hint at some original characters in my own posts and if you wish and you have been reading the book can even hint at them in your own posts.
Are the gods and daemons and Arch Angels/Seraphim’s ever going to show up here?
Only with your help, you will decide if any of them shall truly ever show up by the choices each on of you make here on the site. Normal on RP sites your characters choices do not affect the world but here they will impact the world. Each one of you can make a difference on the site no matter how old or new you are here or even no matter how much you are on. One step down the right road and your character could change the fait of the world for the better or the worst. They could even stumble upon the lords and ladies of both darkness, light, and neutrality. However when taking the neutral road be reminded that the masters of grey are locked away for their sins and their punishment keeps them from truly appearing. When serving the neutral forces be reminded that the only way to meet your master is by paying a high price.
Will there be 'main characters' for the RP who can be played and people who are the 'big players' of the storyline?
Yes indeed there are. You can look in information for them under The Big Players and there you can see them all. At first they will not be RPed by members but slowly as you prove yourself loyal to the site you will be given the option to play one of them. They are the only characters you can ever start out with that begin as Bishops. Each one of these characters have a large role in the plots so always be on the look out for them.
So concludes my little explanation of this site and what you can expect from The Victorian Society. I hope you enjoy this site and all it has to offer and I pray I meet you here. Remember to have fun and be polite.
